Where we serve
Greenville and the towns around it, from Bethel in the north to Ayden and Grifton in the south.
Towns we cover
Each area has its own water source, housing, and weather, and that affects how water heaters wear out. Pick your town for local details.
The area at a glance
Greenville Utilities supplies Greenville with treated Tar River water, supplemented by wells, and uses chloramines for disinfection. Several towns run their own water systems, and rural homes get water from a water corporation or a private well. Whatever the source, sediment builds up in a tank over the years, and annual flushing is worth doing.
The Tar River floods, too. Hurricane Floyd set the record crest at Greenville in 1999, and Hurricane Matthew pushed it to its third-highest level in 2016. Any heater that sat in floodwater needs to be inspected before it’s used again.
